Four arrested for assaulting Adamawa commissioner
Adamawa State Police nabbed four suspects accused of assaulting Muhammed Sadiq, the Commissioner of Environment, and stealing his official vehicle along with other valuables.
It also recovered the stolen Toyota Hilux including a barreta pistol, three live ammunition, two anti-trackers, phones, and cash in foreign currency.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, gave the names of the arrested suspects as Salihu Buhari, 38 years old, and Abdullahi Abubakar, 35, both from Garoua in Cameroon Republic; Isa Adamu, 55, from Tudun Wada, Sokoto State; and Mustapha Muhammed, 47, of Lelewalji, Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Nguroje stated that the suspects were apprehended on Monday by a joint team of police officers from Girei Divisional Police Headquarters after assaulting the Commissioner earlier in the day. He was subsequently hospitalized for medical treatment.
He said the success followed an operational strategy introduced by the police to check criminal activities such as armed robbery, shila gangsterism, kidnapping, among others within and outside the state capital.
