Adeleke to Osun APC leaders: Tinubu opposes asset looting.

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has restated that President Bola Tinubu would never support the looting of public assets. This comes in response to allegations made by the Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding a recently issued White Paper.

Leaders of the APC in the state had urged President Bola Tinubu and security agencies to intervene and address what they described as an anarchic situation orchestrated by Governor Adeleke and his ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Recalling that the Osun State Government issued a White Paper on traditional rulers and the recovery of public assets allegedly taken by political appointees during the Adegboyega Oyetola administration on January 18, 2024.

According to Governor Adeleke in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, “the President has always commended him for clearing the mess he met in Osun, while also emphasizing that President Tinubu abhors looting of public assets.

“I have interacted with President Tinubu a lot of times, and I know he appreciates my effort in cleaning the many messes I encountered in Osun.

“From the actions of the President, he has shown he is a man of due process and, as such, will never support looting of public assets. It’s now unfortunate that Osun APC is showing acts that are contrary to the President’s style of governance

“Moreso, at the inception of our government, I set up an Asset Recovery Committee, with most of those with government properties alerted to the need to return them.

“It is now the report of the committee I’m acting on as demanded by the good people of the state.”

Governor Adeleke asserted that he has governed the state without any partisan affiliation, revealing that he has not reported any political adversary to anti-graft agencies despite apparent grounds to do so.

Emphasizing the need for appointees from the previous administration to return government properties in their possession, Adeleke cautioned that his administration is committed to recovering all looted government assets and will spare no effort in doing so.
